T. Parker Host, Inc. has been a major tanker agent in the Port of Hampton Roads since the 1956 opening of the Amoco Refinery in Yorktown, VA, when Virginia became a frequent host to crude and fuel oil shipments. (Yorktown refinery was acquired by Western in 2007.)   This operational experience has allowed us to change with the industry.  As the oil majors merged and the Valdez incident changed the face of crude shipping, we have our services to meet the varied interests, requirements and nuances of a diverse group of clients.

Continuing to better ourselves to meet our principal’s needs we have developed a seamless communications package to keep you and your customer closely updated on your vessels progress.

T. Parker Host, Inc. has long been the information source on port restrictions and contemporary logistical solutions for tanker operations.  The company has been a leader in developing innovative methods of improving tanker performance through the detailed coordination of terminals, pilots, tugs, lighterers, surveyors, vessels, and even launch services to achieve optimum time management.  Saving time by having the vessel rig reducers before her arrival, making sure the surveyor is prepared for vessel’s stowage/gauging/sampling system, having the launch boat in touch with the pilots to make sure that clearances commence as soon as the anchor is dropped, and numerous other 15-20 minute time savers result in (if at all possible) your vessel completing her voyage and prepared for her next cargo within the allotted 72 hours.

In addition we are able to offer complete logistical services.  Contracting the lightering company, cargo expeditor, AMPD coverage, and other necessary services required to deliver cargo “in the tank”, while keeping your customer informed and involved to ensure their needs are met.

Although T. Parker Host, Inc is performance oriented, the company has always had safety as its first concern.  Safety concerns are constantly monitored and never jeopardized.  The company has always kept abreast of the latest safety regulations as well as federal and state government regulations affecting tanker operations.   We routinely attend meetings and seminars with the Coast Guard to voice our principal’s concerns over arbitrary regulations being imposed without regard to commercial matters.  Our input has saved all users of the port both time and money.

For your guidance, the State of Virginia is one of only a few states requiring individual proof of financial responsibility and oil spill response plans on file in addition to standard U.S. Coast Guard requirements.  T. Parker Host, Inc. has worked diligently with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality on these regulations to ensure ship owners are not over burdened while in the meantime making sure tankers entering Virginia waters are in compliance with both state and federal guidelines.

T. Parker Host, Inc. is not only a specialist at handling crude/product tankers, we also handle the majority of parcel vessels lifting grease, UAN, tallow, soybean oil, and other products.
