Congratulations to the winner of our quarterly photo contest:

Chris Holt

A big thanks to all those who participated and voted! We had some popular contenders, but Chris' picture "MS JANET and MS DEBBIE at the Key Bridge" took the gold with 23% of the vote.

The Story:

MS JANET and MS DEBBIE are the first two tugboats fully-owned by Host Marine. MS JANET is named after Tom and David Host's mother, and MS DEBBIE is named after Adam Anderson's mother.

In Chris' picture, the two gals are docked at the ALCOA terminal in Baltimore, MD, which is halfway between where our barges are loaded with coal and where they're offloaded. The tug and barge operation handles approximately 2.5 million tons of coal per year.

REAL Solutions:

Last year, Host developed a full operational plan to transport coal for a client, including the acquisition of assets and full staffing for the tugboats. This is an excellent example of Host's dedication to REAL Solutions. We formed a relationship with our client, adopted their goals, researched every variable, presented options, and took responsibility for the solution.

Side Note:

Host also operates the ALCOA terminal where the tugs dock. We have been discharging alumina there and maintaining the facility since 2008.
