Throughout 2017, we’re celebrating Tom and David Host’s 40th anniversary with Host by making four $10K contributions to local nonprofits.

One of our selected recipients is the Mariners’ Museum in Newport News. Host is sponsoring $1 admission for everyone, now through Labor Day!

The Mariners’ Museum is a special place for the Host family. Tom and David's father, T. Parker Host, Jr., served as the chairman of its Board of Trustees. He also played a large role in the creation of the International Small Craft Center and made several contributions to the institution that helped it become one of the preeminent maritime museums in the nation.

For these and all of Parker Host’s many contributions, he was given the prestigious Huntington Medal in 2013. “It was certainly a well-deserved tribute for all of Parker’s dedication, support and love for this museum,” says Chief Curator Lyles Forbes.

Today, Tom and David continue the family's support for the Mariners' Museum and work to share its exceptional collection with the public. Following in his father's footsteps, David began serving on the board of directors in 2008, and held the chairman position from 2014 to 2016.

If you find yourself in Hampton Roads this summer, we encourage you to visit and take advantage of the special $1 admission price. While there, you can stop by and see Parker’s family sloop La Nube, standing right outside the doors of the Small Craft Center with a striking image of a Chesapeake sunrise as a backdrop.
